Women’s Care Center is the only physician practice in Kentucky to offer bone densitometry testing with the latest and most advanced bone densitometer, the Lunar iDXA. Referred to as DEXA, the quick and painless test can be used to detect the decrease in bone mass associated with osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a bone disease in which bones become fragile and are more likely to break. If not prevented or if left untreated, osteoporosis can progress painlessly until a bone breaks, usually from a minor fall. These breaks (or fractures) usually occur in the hip, spine and wrist.
When detected, osteoporosis can be treated and even stopped in its tracks. A bone density test, along with a physical examination, can provide a definitive diagnosis of osteoporosis to assist in a treatment plan.
All of the physicians and technicians at the Women’s Care Center Bone Mineral Density Center are ISCD* Certified. To set up an appointment, call 859-278-0363.
